GARRISH =~ ‘ ACTING GENERAL COUNSEL, (dM FROM: INGRID KOLB mn J DIRECTOR h T OFFICE OF MANAGE SUBJECT: ACTION: Cancellation of Department of Energy Designations of Authority ISSUE: Whether to approve the cancellation of Department of Energy (DOE) Designations of Authority to the Deputy Secretary, Under Secretary (of Energy), Under Secretary for Science, and Under Secretary for Nuclear Security. BACKGROUND: In 2014, former Secretary Moniz designated the Deputy Secretary, Under Secretary (of Energy), Under Secretary for Science, and the Under Secretary for Nuclear Security as “Secretarial Acquisition Executives” for capital asset projects within certain dollar thresholds. These thresholds are already outlined in DOE Order 413.3B, Program and Project Management for the Acquisition of Capital Assets (found in Table 1 on page A-4 of Appendix A) making the following Designations of Authority duplicative and unnecessary: e Designation Order No. 00-06.00A to the Deputy Secretary e Designation Order No. 00-18.00 to the Under Secretary (of Energy) e Designation Order No. 00-19.00 to the Under Secretary for Science -@ Designation Order No. 00-20.00 to the Under Secretary for Nuclear Security SENSITIVITIES: None.
