Senior Procurement Executive

The individual appointed pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 1702(c), who is responsible for management direction of the acquisition system of the executive agency, including implementation of the unique acquisition policies, regulations, and standards of the executive agency. The Director, Office of Acquisition Management, is the designated Senior Procurement Executive (SPE) for the Department of Energy, and the Deputy Associate Administrator for Acquisition of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is the SPE for NNSA.

The DOE senior official appointed under the Office of Federal Procurement Policy Act, who is responsible for managing the direction of the Department's procurement system, including implementation of unique procurement policies, regulations, and standards. In DOE, this is the Director of the Office Acquisition Management. In NNSA, this is the Deputy Associate Administrator for Acquisition and Project Management

Responsible for management direction and oversight of all processes and operations governing the procurement system (acquisitions and financial assistance) of the Department, including implementation of the unique procurement policies, regulations, and standards of the executive agency. Procurement authority, which flows from the Secretary, is unique within the Department of Energy as it has two Senior Procurement Executives:

a. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)

b. DOE Office of Management - Responsible for everything outside of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
