Prompt Interim Action (PIA)

Any action, including repairs, load limits, or partial or full bridge closure that is enacted to alleviate a significant safety problem on the bridge. Prompt means as soon as possible or practical given the conditions and consequences of inaction. Interim means that the action may be temporary but is to the extent necessary to ensure safe use of the bridge.
