Access

The proximity to a nuclear explosive that allows the opportunity to divert, steal, tamper with, and/or damage the nuclear explosive in spite of any controls that have been established to prevent such unauthorized actions.

In addition to physically accessing a room or facility, it is also the ability and means to communicate with or otherwise interact with a system, to use system resources to handle information, to gain knowledge of the information the system contains, or to control system components and functions.

The ability or opportunity to gain knowledge of classified information.

Granting permission to view and handle CUI, provided such access or dissemination: (i) Abides by the laws, regulations, or Government-wide policies that established the CUI category; (ii) Furthers a lawful Government purpose; (iii) Is not restricted by an unauthorized limited dissemination control established by the CUI EA; and (iv) Is not otherwise prohibited by law
