SUBJECT: SECRETARIAL SUCCESSION
1. PURPOSE. To establish the Secretarial line of succession in the Department of Energy.
2. CANCELLATION. DOE 1100.7, SECRETARIAL SUCCESSION, of 3-28-84.
3. LINE OF SUCCESSION.
a. The following officials, in the order indicated, shall act as Secretary of Energy in the
event of the absence or disability of the Secretary, until the absence or disability ceases,
or in the case of a vacancy, until a successor is appointed:
(1) Deputy Secretary
(2) Under Secretary
b. Upon the occasion that the Deputy and Under Secretaries are not available, the
Secretary will designate an Acting Secretary at that time.
