U.S. Department of Energy LIMITED CHANGE Washington, DC Chg 3: 12-3-2020 SUBJECT: LIMITED CHANGE TO DOE O 329.1A, EXCEPTED SERVICE AUTHORITIES FOR EJ AND EK PAY PLANS 1. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES. This change was made to clarify the impact of the trial period for the initial EJ or EK appointment of non-preference eligible appointees. 2. LOCATIONS OF CHANGES: Page Paragraph Changed To 14 4.h.(5)(a) A trial period of up to 2 years for the purpose of assessing the ability of an individual to adequately perform in his or her assigned position will be established for appointments under these authorities. Non preference eligible appointees are subject to a 2-year trial period. Preference eligible appointees are subject to a 1-year trial period. The trial period will be served regardless of a previously completed probationary or trial period. A trial period of up to 2 years for the purpose of assessing the ability of an individual to adequately perform in his or her assigned position will be established for appointments under these authorities. Non preference eligible appointees are subject to a 2-year trial period. Preference eligible appointees are subject to a 1-year trial period. The trial period will be served unless the individual meets the definition of an “employee” in 5 USC 7511(a)(1)(B) or (C). DOE O 329.1A
