Packaging (class 7)

A assembly of components necessary to ensure compliance with packaging requirements of 49 CFR Part 173 Subpart I, Class 7 (Radioactive) Materials.
This may consist of one or more receptacles, absorbent materials, spacing structures, thermal insulation, radiation shielding, and service equipment for filling, emptying, venting, and pressure relief, and devices for cooling or absorbing mechanical shocks. The conveyances, tie-down systems, and auxiliary equipment used in transport may sometimes be designated as part of the packaging.
