A structured methodology and document that aids decision making for obtaining best value for achieving operational requirements while balancing cost, schedule, performance, and risk by identifying and comparing alternatives including the mission and business impacts (both financial and non-financial), risks, and sensitivities. Business case analysis documents generally include: a justification for initiating a project or task; the specific performance measures that are affected by the investment and how those measures are affected the rationale for the investment; supporting analysis of alternative solutions; a recommendation; and, associated specific actions with an implementation plan to achieve stated organizational objectives and desired outcomes.
