Section 1

U.S. Department of Energy NOTICE Washington, D.C. DOE N 5480.10 7-11-94 EXPIRES: 12-31-95 SUBJECT: RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL The purpose of this Notice is to announce the availability of the revised Department of Energy Radiological Control (RADCON) Manual. The Radiological Control Manual describes practices for the conduct of Departmental radiological control activities, and states the Department's view on the best courses of action currently available in the area of radiological control. The revised Manual (Revision 1) incorporates lessons learned from operational experience, ensures consistency with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 835, "Occupational Radiation Protection," and now supersedes the original edition. Copies of the Manual and further information is available from C. Rick Jones, Director, Office of Health Physics and Industrial Hygiene, on (301) 903-6061. Prior to the expiration of this Notice, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Environment, Safety, and Health will take action to formally establish the RADCON Manual within the framework of the Departmental Directives System. A Directives Management Document will be coordinated in August, and a final Order, if appropriate, issued by December 31. It is anticipated that this action will not result in significant program redirection or substantive changes to the content of the Manual. BY ORDER OF THE SECRETARY OF ENERGY: ARCHER L. DURHAM Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration
