SUBJECT: EXTENSION OF DOE N 450.7, The Safe Handling, Transfer, and Receipt of
Biological Etiologic Agents at Department of Energy Facilities
This Notice extends DOE N 450.7, The Safe Handling, Transfer, and Receipt of Biological
Etiologic Agents at Department of Energy Facilities, dated 10-17-01, until 6-30-05, unless
sooner rescinded. Previously the requirements of DOE N 450.7 were proposed to be
incorporated into DOE O 440.1A, Worker Protection Management for DOE Federal and
Contractor Employees, dated 3-27-98. However, the Office of Environment, Safety and Health,
in response to the National Defense Reauthorization Act for Fiscal Year 2003, is in the process
of incorporating the requirements of the Notice into the new Worker Safety and Health Rule,
proposed Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, part 851.
