CANCELE D U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY NOTICE WASHINGTON, D.C. DOE N 251.6 9-29-95 CANCELLATION OF DIRECTIVES Attached is a listing of two canceled directives, effective immediately. This is a continuing effort in the ongoing initiative to reduce the burden and volume of internal regulations. The Department of Energy (DOE) is in the process of streamlining the directives system. The Office of Environment, Safety and Health's (EH) review of the subject Orders indicated that they are no longer necessary to ensure protection of the public and environment and full compliance with external regulation. It is DOE policy and practice to comply with all applicable environmental requirements including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act regulations. Furthermore, adequate internal and external structures are in place to ensure adequate coordination of environmental compliance issues. Therefore, these Orders are deemed unnecessary and redundant and are hereby canceled. A Policy Statement on environmental management systems is under development and will be circulated in the near future. The cancellation of these Orders does not relieve the Department or its contractors from complying with the applicable Federal laws and regulations pertaining to the canceled Orders or their functional areas.
