SUBJECT: UNCLASSIFIED FOREIGN NATIID’[ALV“lS”ITS AND ASSIGNMENTS
1. PURPOSE . To issue modified procedures for approval of foreign
visitors and assignees at II(I!;facilities. These modifications
are made to reflect changes n international relations and
changes in a(:cess arrangemen”.s at DOE facilities.
Implementati.~)n of these modi ’;ications will increase
efficiency, reduce paperwork and enhance opportunities for

Procedures in DOE 124(L2H describing access to “SecHitY
Facilit!.es” are now orliy applicable to “Security Areas”
excepting Property Prot ection Areas. A Security Area is
defined as follows:
“A physical space, wit] in or separate from a property
protection area, desigl,ated in accordance with DOE 5632.5
as an area containing !afeguards and security interests
which dictate the need for the imposition of physical
protection measures, ,:~~d minimum entailing control of
access to and from thw ldlssiqnated area, in order tc)
protect DOE interests n accordance with the purpose of

will be modified as soon a possible to incorporate these
changes.
