SUBJECT: DIRECTIVES CERTIFICATION STATEMENT
Department of Energy Order 471.6, Information Security, dated 06-20-11, has been reviewed by my
organization and deemed to be in compliance with related Departmental Directives, Secretarial
Delegations, organizational structure, budget guidelines, regulations, standards, Office of
Management and Budget guidance, relevant memoranda of understanding and public laws.
In addition, this directive is not found to cause undue burden on Departmental elements and
contractors (e.g., through significant cost impacts, being overly prescriptive, redundancy, or
excessive reporting requirements).
This Order establishes requirements and responsibilities for Departmental Elements, including the
National Nuclear Security Administration, to protect and control classified information as required
by statutes, regulation, Executive Orders, government-wide policy directives and guidelines, and
Departmental policy and directives. Such requirements and responsibilities include providing
direction to Departmental programs and contractors to ensure that all applicable laws, regulations,
policies, directives and other requirements are followed or achieved, and that classified information
is properly protected and controlled.
A request for Administrative Change has been submitted to the Director, Office of Information
Resources to reflect the new organization name, as well as references to established policy and
rules. With the requested Administrative Change, | certify that this directive is accurate and
continues to be relevant and appropriate for use by the Department.
