KOLB DIRECTOR OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT FROM: SUBJECT: ~~ Directives Certification Statement The Department of Energy Guide 440.1-7A, Implementation Guide for use with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 850 (10 C.F.R. 850), Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program, dated January 4, 2001, has been reviewed by our organization and deemed to be in compliance with related Departmental directives, Secretarial delegations, organizational structure, budget guidelines, regulations, standards, Office of Management and Budget guidance, relevant Memoranda of Understanding and public laws. In addition, this directive is not found to cause undue burden (i.e., significant cost impacts, overly prescriptive, redundancy, or excessive reporting requirements) on departmental elements and contractors. This directive provides implementation assistance specifically for the requirements of 10 C.F.R. 850, Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program. The Executive Steering Committee for Worker Safety and Health reform discussed the existing Worker Safety and Health Guides and concluded that they would not be examined in detail; however, the Committee agreed that there was a need to keep the guidance associated with the Rules. The Office of Health, Safety and Security is currently working toward amending 10 C.F.R. 850 and will update the guidance once the amendments have been published in the Federal Register. | certify that this directive is accurate and continues to be relevant and appropriate for use by the Department.
