SUBJECT: ~~ Directives Certification Statement
The Department of Energy Guide 440.1-7A, Implementation Guide for use with
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 850 (10 C.F.R. 850), Chronic Beryllium
Disease Prevention Program, dated January 4, 2001, has been reviewed by our
organization and deemed to be in compliance with related Departmental directives,
Secretarial delegations, organizational structure, budget guidelines, regulations,
standards, Office of Management and Budget guidance, relevant Memoranda of
Understanding and public laws.
In addition, this directive is not found to cause undue burden (i.e., significant cost
impacts, overly prescriptive, redundancy, or excessive reporting requirements) on
departmental elements and contractors.
This directive provides implementation assistance specifically for the requirements of
10 C.F.R. 850, Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program. The Executive Steering
Committee for Worker Safety and Health reform discussed the existing Worker Safety
and Health Guides and concluded that they would not be examined in detail; however,
the Committee agreed that there was a need to keep the guidance associated with the
Rules. The Office of Health, Safety and Security is currently working toward amending
10 C.F.R. 850 and will update the guidance once the amendments have been published
in the Federal Register.
| certify that this directive is accurate and continues to be relevant and appropriate for
use by the Department.
