Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Washington, DC 20585 April 16,2013 DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION DELEGATION OF ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES REGARDING NUCLEAR WEAPON SURETY INTERFACE WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE DELEGATION. Under the authority vested in me under Section 3214 of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Act (50 U.S.C. 2404), the specific roles and responsibilities to provide NNSA review and concurrence or non-concurrence in granting interim/final approval of Department of Defense proposed safety rules, as detailed in sections 4.c.(2)(a)2 and 5.a of DOE 0 452.6A, Nuclear Weapon Surety Inte!face with the Department of Defense (May 14, 2009), are hereby delegated to the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Stockpile Management. These roles and responsibilities may not be further re-delegated. I. LIMITATION. I. I In exercising the roles and responsibilities delegated herein, a delegate is governed by the applicable rules and regulations of the Department of Energy and the policies and procedures of the Secretary. 1.2 Nothing in this delegation precludes the Secretary from disapproving any Administration-specific policy or exercising any of the authority delegated by this delegation whenever in the Secretary's judgment the exercise of that authority is necessary or appropriate to administer the functions vested in the Secretary. 1.3 Any amendments to this delegation shall be in consultation with the NNSA General Counsel. 1.4 Nothing in this Delegation precludes the Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs from exercising any of the roles and responsibilities delegated in this Delegation. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This delegation is effective immediately.
