Specifically, this order which replaces DOE 0 5400.5, Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment now establishes approval for Authorized Limits for real property to Field Element Managers, in consultation with the Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management. In addition, DOE 458.1 retains authorities established in DOE 5400.5 for the approval of pre­ approved Authorized Limits and for Authorized Limits for personal property with Field Element Managers. Note also that the approval for Authorized Limits for personal property is conditioned on the various technical and administrative requirements in DOE 0 458.1, Section 4.k.( 6)( d)2. DOE Order 458.1, "Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment" is posted on the Directives portal here: https:Uwww.directives.doe.gov/directives/current-directives/458.1-BOrder/view Designated authorities assigned through the DOE Directives are established to ensure objective and consistent decision making by appropriate levels ofline management. Decisions and associated actions must be consistent with the policy and goals of this organization. Consistent with DOE 0 458.1, none of these authorities may be re-delegated.
